Profile
Backstory
Dani managed set changes in a cramped off-Broadway rehearsal space, making tall people and large scenery fit through very real doors. She organized a compact-player pickup run after tiring of strangers explaining that she was inspiring for merely arriving. The team adopted Short Kings because she liked the confidence and refused to let anyone dictate who belonged under the name.
What drives them
Make opponents prepare for her basketball decisions instead of giving speeches about her height.
Allies, rivals & friction
Priya supplies useful angles and too many diagrams. Mo is the calm voice Dani actually hears. Crispin Hale expects passage on request; Dani finds that expectation hilarious. Inez Vega understands the impatience but wants the argument settled by force instead of angles.
Room to grow
Can accept genuine praise without assuming it conceals a lowered standard, while still rejecting condescension.
The signature
Below the Radar
She drops into a deep low dribble beneath a reaching forearm, takes one sharp lateral step around the defender’s outside foot and drives a fast low bounce pass through a genuinely open floor-level lane.
The rules & the counter
She moves around an outside foot and beneath a reaching arm through real open space; never between closed legs or through a body. The low bounce pass needs a visible floor lane. A defender who crouches and protects the angle can force her to reset.
The weakness
Condescension can make her insist on solving the next possession alone, contradicting her own team-first demands.
When it works
The celebration
Points at the open receiver, then at the scoreboard area as though the point should now be obvious.
When it falls apart
The losing reaction
Cuts off the inspirational framing and asks which decision was late.
The constants
Always this character
32-year-old woman, 147 cm, mature jaw and eye lines, adult compact athletic proportions; no child coding, no medical assumptions, no miraculous shrinking.
