Darius ran the music and posing cues at Basement Nine showcases. He learned to rescue awkward silences with a grin and a perfectly delayed beat. Amara recruited the reliable shot underneath the showmanship; Darius thinks she recruited the show.

Inez builds his stage and demands equal credit. Tessa wants the same clock to obey a different count; their rivalry turns one harmless hesitation into a philosophical disagreement.

The signature
Hold for Applause
He takes a one-beat pause behind a screen, rises for a compact shot, then locks the shooting arm overhead. As the ball drops, his free hand frames that arm, converting the follow-through into a one-arm bodybuilding pose.

A screen or real separation must create the shot. The pose freezes his recovery for one beat; it never guides the ball or guarantees a make.

An indifferent crowd or a defender who refuses to watch makes him hold the pose too long.
